Party season is officially here and for some of you that may cause excitement while others may crumble in a panic at – what to wear. david-jones

Party season is all about having fun, celebrating the year that was, the year to come and switching off from reality for a few hours. This party season don’t let the fear of what to wear overpower your desire for fun and celebration.

It’s time to let loose, express your personal styleand dress to your colour palette to ensure you create the most gorgeous version of you!

The secret to feeling fantastic in anything you wear (party season or not) is to WEAR COLOURS THAT ARE PERFECT FOR YOU!!

Colour creates emotion and when you wear colours that don’t suit your colour palette you can feel down, frumpy, tired and flat. We don’t want that to be the case any time of the year but especially when it is a time to celebrate and feel fabulous and bring on the glam.

Below are a few tips on how to dress for your colour palette and personal style this party season – whatever the event.

If you aren’t sure of your personal colour palette or what we call “energy” or “mother nature given beauty” colours, then pick a category that best resonates with you. If you are still struggling we have lots of face to face or online services to help you out, feel free to contact us.

Colour Yourself Beautiful

Spring Colour Palettes: Are generally full of life and their outfits needs to depict that; get creative and be adventurous with your look. If you are a Black or Neutral lover always be sure to add some colour somewhere in your look with either; a strong, vibrant lip colour, accessory, shoe or bag.

Never opt for just black and silver (unless wearing a warm, bright lippy or accessory) as this cool, colour combination could age you and dull your look.

  • Opt for vibrant, high contrast accessories and/or prints.
  • Have ONE statement piece to your outfit.
  • Have fun with colour and try quirky combinations (link to Quirky Colour blog).

Summer Colour Palettes: Need to dress to their mood; have a few outfits planned and decide on the day/evening what they feel like wearing. Pretty prints, sparkle, shine and feminine touches will be paramount in their overall look and the festive season is when they can let loose and go all out with their shimmer.

If opting for black be sure to “soften” it with delicate accessories or soft metallics. This season’s pastels and blush/nude tones are perfect and can go from day to dusk to after dark with just a tweak of appropriate styling.

  • Wear soft, pretty colours with pops of medium brights.
  • Layer your accessories to soften your look.
  • For a minimalist style make water wash prints, lace and metallic fabrics in garments the feature and keep your accessories to a minimum.

Autumn Colour Palettes: Classic, elegant and elements of drama best describe an Autumn palette’s style. Therefore, they need to bring this into their party look styling. Nothing too blingy but rather understated sparkle will resonate best. For the more adventurous try a touch of animal print and for a romantic style, lace will definitely appeal.

  • Opt for muted, low contrast, rich, earthy colours and prints.
  • Have ONE statement accessory – simplistic styling is key.
  • For added drama to a look, pump up your makeup with a smokey, deep eye and soft lip.

Winter Colour Palettes: Need refinement and simplicity to their outfits… Many Winter palettes think themselves boring as they often opt for a LBD (little black dress). If this is you…Think to yourself: would you ever call Audrey Hepburn boring? No, stick to your personal style and be confident with who you are! Black is an energy colour for a lot of Winter palettes and often too much colour can scare or overwhelm them.

If this is you then go with your “natural beauty” and what resonates with you best. If you do love colour opt for clear shades that aren’t dusty or muted. If wearing a soft pastel give it some contrast and definition with black, silver or a vibrant colour that compliments your entire outfit.

  • Add in a pop of vibrant, cool, clear colour.
  • Have a statement to your outfit; this can be a print piece, bag, shoes and/or accessories.
  • Invest in a classical piece that you can dress up and dress down depending on your party occasion – often Winter palettes prefer quality over quantity!
